Is learning to play the guitar difficult?
I was just given a guitar as an early b-day gift. I am not hoping to be famous or anything, I just want to know how to play. I am 25 years old and just curious, how difficult is it to learn to play the acoustic guitar? I am going to take lessons once a week and have a DVD tutoring session for practice.
I used to play the piano and took voice lessons as a kid so I have a general idea of how to read music.

i started playing when i was seven.
if you have the right sized guitar for you and can reach all the frets without strain.
it will be easy.
the only thing you may have trouble with is switching chords, i still do.
make sure your tutor knows what hes talking about and dont start with stuff you want to do but stuff that will help you.
for my first five months i did scales and it helped me quite alot.
if you get bored of doing one thing make sure you move on, only stick with something you want to.
personally i find most people with private tutors are better.
i expect you will find it quite easy =]

oh and i taught my sister and i found that printing out a picture of the guitar with all of the notes labeled helped.
